1. Origin and history

Launch: September 1970, in Showa 45.
Historical position: GuardHalo became one of the most recognizable everyday goods associated with Japan’s Showa era. From its launch to its final discontinuation, the brand remained in daily use for more than half a century.
Design: Its white package with distinctive red and blue lines and lettering created a simple, warm, retro impression that many people still remember.

2. Core positioning: exceptional value

The strongest image of GuardHalo is affordable and practical.
Rather than focusing on complex claims such as whitening, sensitivity care, or premium oral care, it returned to the essential role of toothpaste: fluoride-based cavity prevention, plaque removal, breath care, and a clean refreshing feeling.
Because it was inexpensive and sufficiently effective for daily cleaning, it was used not only by households but also by saunas, public bathhouses, dormitories, and some public facilities.

3. Classic TV commercials

When the brand first appeared in the 1970s, its TV commercials left a strong impression. The phrase “Is there anything that has been bothering you lately?” became widely known together with scenes that encouraged care for dental health, quickly increasing national awareness of the brand.
